The purpose of this site is to provide accurate information to the residents of Urmston and surrounding areas, regarding the planned Barton Renewable Energy Plant. Peel Energy are planning to use the corridor of land on the Manchester Ship Canal between the United Utilities Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works and Barton High Level Bridge to develop an industrial plant to process waste for upto 37,000 homes throughout Trafford. Who is affected?
This proposal affects the Urmston area including Davyhulme and Flixton, but the communities who will be affacted with the highest impact (within 4 miles radius) will include: Stretford, Eccles, Worsley, Barton, and Swinton.
Who are we?
We are a group of local Urmston residents who are strongly opposed to the proposal on the grounds of the negative impact it will have on the local community. We are not affiliated with any global, national or political movements. We are local residents fighting for and on behalf of other local residents to get this plan stopped.
